Bobby Lee Jones
/Bobby Lee “Bob” Jones passed away peacefully at his home in Klamath Falls, July 21, 2019, where he resided for 73 years. Bobby was born July 10, 1926 in Wichita Falls, Texas to parents Harence D. and Reba Guthrie Jones.
Bobby served in WWII as a Gunner’s Mate on the U.S. Naval Destroyer Escort Sterett, manning an anti-aircraft gun. The Sterret engaged the Japanese Navy at the Battle of Luzon, the Lingayen Gulf landing, and the invasion and protection of Okinawa in April of 1945.
Following military service, Bobby was employed by the Southern Pacific railroad, retiring as a passenger conductor.
Bobby was proceeded in death by wives Thomasnia, Elaine and Maureen. His only child Linda died in an auto accident at the age of 17. Bobby is survived by an older brother in Boulder, Colorado, H. Dewey Jones, three nephews and one niece.
As directed in his will, there was a cremation.
