LA GRANDE, Ore. -  This Saturday the Oregon Tech Harriers travel to La Grande for the Cascade Collegiate Conference Cross Country Championships.  The Owls go into the Championships after a very good showing two weeks ago, that moved both teams up in the national polls.  The men are currently rated No. 24 nationally and No. 5 in the conference standings. While the women are No. 7 Nationally and No. 2 in conference ratings after their one-point loss to conference rival College of Idaho at William Jessup on October 21st.

The men's race is loaded with talent with four other teams in the conference rated nationally, No. 2 Southern Oregon, No.4 College of Idaho, No. 8 Eastern Oregon, No.17 Northwest Christian, and the Owls make the Cascade Conference one of the toughest in the Country.

The Oregon Tech men will be led by returning All-American sophomore Mark French.  Mark finished third last year and will be battling several runners for the individual title including returning conference champ Nic Maszk from EOU.

Defending national champ SOU will be racing for a share of the record book as they hope to win their twelfth conference title and ninth consecutive title.  A Twelfth conference title would tie them with EOU. The only other school to win a conference title is Concordia with one.

In the women's race the No. 7 Owls will look to move up in conference standings after finishing third the last three years.  Led by a strong front three of Danielle De CastroSusie Garza, and Cindy Reed who are the only Tech women to run under 18 minutes in school history.  The ladies face a tough challenge of their own with three other nationally rated teams, No. 5 College of Idaho, No. 10 Southern Oregon, and No.19 Corban.  Jessa Perkinson of SOU is the top returner from the 2016 championships who finished second with De Castro who chased at third.

The men start the action at Lane Farms in La Grande at 11:00am with the women to follow at noon.
