Armed citizen stops criminal

On Sunday, August 2nd, 2020, members of the Klamath Falls Police Department responded to the 800 block of East Main Street, in Klamath Falls.  Initial 911 call indicated a male subject had been shot outside of a convenient store nearby.

When officers arrived, they found 29-year-old Taylor Reed Jackson had been shot in the right shoulder and right leg. Taylor Jackson was transported to Sky Lakes Medical Center where he received treatment for his injuries.

Over the course of a criminal investigation, detectives discovered Taylor Jackson fired several handgun rounds in the direction of a vehicle operated by his girlfriend, Seya Kerekes. Seya Kerekes was not injured by the gunfire, but her vehicle was struck multiple times.

A legally armed citizen saw Taylor Jackson shooting at Seya Kerekes’ vehicle and intervened, shooting Taylor Jackson twice ending the gunfire. Taylor Jackson attempted to conceal his firearm, which was later recovered by detectives.  

Taylor Jackson was released from Sky Lakes Medical Center and lodged at the Klamath County Jail.  Taylor Jackson was charged with: Attempted Murder, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Reckless Endangering.
