KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Due to the hard work of hundreds of people working on the Bootleg Fire in eastern Klamath County, Klamath County Emergency Management is removing all current evacuation levels for those areas of the fire within Klamath County at 3:00 PM today (July 27, 2021).

Crews have worked diligently over the last three weeks on this wildfire that has claimed over 410,000 acres and over 150 residences across Klamath and Lake counties.

Klamath County Sheriff Chris Kaber states: “This is one of the largest incidents we have faced in Klamath County. I continue to be amazed at the outpouring of support that our community expresses to the victims of this fire, as well as to the responders working hard to bring this fire under control with minimal loss.”

While the hazards have reduced to the point where we believe it is safe to remove evacuation levels there are still hazards that residents need to be aware of. These include fire damaged trees, damage to area roads, as well as increased traffic from the various crews working to mitigate hazards. We continue to ask that people keep traffic to a minimum in the fire area to allow crews to make repairs as quickly as possible.
