Klamath County finished last week with 70 cases, reports 15 cases, 1 death today

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Klamath County Public Health (KCPH) officials report 15 new cases and one death. The total number of cases is now 2,979. Deaths number 56.

The death of 79-year-old woman at her home January 19 was discovered by Oregon Health Authority in routine auditing of vital statistics.

There are two cases to date this week.

On Saturday, there were 13 new cases assigned to the county. In the week that concluded Saturday, Klamath County had a total of 70 new COVID-19 cases.

To remain in the “moderate risk level” the county must have no more than 67 cases in a two-week period. The next possible movement would be Friday, April 16.

Klamath County was allowed to remain in “moderate risk” last Friday, despite exceeding the 67 cases in a two-week period. This was due to a “pause” the Governor’s Office provides to allow businesses to operate within a lower risk level for more than two weeks.

To protect yourself:

  • Keep your distance by maintaining six feet of social or physical distancing between yourself and others.

  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, utilizing hand sanitizer when washing facilities are not available.

  • Sanitize surfaces that are often touched.

  • Avoid gatherings of any size where social or physical distancing is not possible.

To protect others around you:

  • Cover coughs and sneezes.

  • Stay home when sick.

  • Wear a clean mask in public spaces, including outdoors when six feet of social distance cannot be maintained.
