Lost River FFA does well at state, heads to nationals

Lost River FFA was well represented at the 2019 Oregon FFA State Convention, qualifying its chapter and an individual for the National FFA Convention and Expo.

Lost River FFA will compete for national recognition as a chapter and Lost River senior Nolan Britton qualified to compete at the national level individually with his SAE (Supervised Agricultural Experience) proficiency in the area of environmental science and national resources.

The trip to the state convention started on Friday, March 22, when the attendees departed from Lost River Junior-Senior High School to make their way to Redmond, Ore. The attendees were Michael Bair, Nolan Britton, Agustine Cisneros, Audrey Guthrie, Gabby Haskins, Wyatt Lacy, Baler Mann, Kaden Olmstead, Dylan Reid, Curtis Sweat, Alicia Venegas, and Colten Wright.

The chapter came home with multiple titles and means of recognition under its belt. Day two at the convention came with Superior Chapter Recognition and 10-plus Membership Increase. On day three, the chapter received gold, and will be moving on to national competition for its National Chapter Application, bronze in Secretary’s Book, Treasurer’s Book and Technology Scrapbook and fourth place in the State Ag Awareness Project.

State Proficiency finalists were Gabby Haskins, for agricultural education, Colten Wright, for agricultural services, and, moving on to compete at nationals, Nolan Britton for environmental science and natural resources.

The 92nd National FFA Convention and Expo will be Oct. 30 through Nov. 2 in Indianapolis. The chapter is thankful for its supporters who make it possible for members to make their work pay off.
