Motorcyclist killed in crash on Main Street

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - On Sunday, February 7, 2021, at 2: 29 PM, officers from the Klamath Falls Police Department responded to the intersection of Main and 5th Streets; to reported a crash involving a truck and motorcycle at that location.

Initial reports indicated the operator of the motorcycle was down and appeared to be unresponsive. 

Upon arrival officers found 68-year-old, John Manuel Sarabia, lying on the ground next to the motorcycle. Officers began lifesaving measures until medical personnel arrived and took over for police personnel. 

Several minutes later, Mr. Sarabina was pronounced dead at the scene.

KFPD’s preliminary investigation revealed a 2000 Dodge Dakota was traveling south on Main Street when it proceeded through, what was purported to be, a green light at the intersection of Main Street and 5th Street.  The driver of the Dodge Dakota told officers Mr. Sarabia’s motorcycle impacted the passenger door of his vehicle.  The driver of the Dodge Dakota was uninjured and remained on the scene until law enforcement arrived.

The speed of the motorcycle may have been a contributing factor, at this point it is unknown if alcohol was involved.  The investigation is ongoing.
