The following is a press release from Oregon Tech.

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - The Oregon Institute of Technology today presented the OT-AAUP faculty union with a generous compensation offer that guarantees future success for the University. The offer comes one week prior to the faculty union’s threatened strike.

“This is a very generous offer. Particularly given the uncertain times, it represents a significant investment in Oregon Tech faculty over the next four years,” said Ken Fincher, vice president of Institutional Advancement.

The offer addresses a variety of faculty concerns, including:

  • 9.5% minimum increase in salaries over the next four years.

  • Additional commitment of 3.5% dedicated to merit-based raises starting in 2023, that could result in outstanding faculty receiving considerably more than the minimum increase mentioned above.

  • Maintains current health benefits

    • Oregon Tech currently covers 95% (up to 97%) of health care premium costs.

  • Workload that is consistent with university standard.

“One of the University's overarching objectives is to continue to attract, retain, and develop top talent,” said Dr. Fincher. “Every employee at the University is vital to achieving this goal and to ensuring the success of the larger institution.”

The university is committed to ratifying the OT-AAUP’s first labor contract that it believes will be competitive and fair to its faculty, will help build a strong foundation for long-term working relationships, and positions Oregon Tech as successful institution of innovation and teamwork.
