KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - The $3500 grant will help fund construction of a multi-purpose shelter that will serve as an outdoor classroom and gathering space for the community.

The shelter will facilitate a variety of aquatic programs and help extend the outdoor season at Ella Redkey Pool by offering a heating element inside the open-air shelter. The space will offer a cool, shaded place to escape on hot summer days and a warm place to gather on cooler fall and spring nights.

Mike Reeder, Friends of the Ella Redkey Pool stated, “The money that has been generously given by Pacific Power is part of a larger grant that is going to increase programs and events at Ella Redkey Pool. Our hope is that our community will see the Pool as we do, an integral resource that plays an important role in the health and wellness of everyone.”

A priority of the Ella Redkey Pool is to provide classes that promote water safety, active recreation, and a healthy lifestyle for all ages.

Classes and programs will include:

  • First Aid, CPR & AED

  • Lifeguarding

  • Afterschool Programs

  • Swim Lesson Instruction

  • Stroke Clinic

The shelter will also serve as a reservable space for family reunions, birthday parties, team-building workshops and more.

Todd Andres, Regional Business Manager of Pacific Power stated, “My children learned to swim at the Ella Redkey Pool and I have personally experienced the positive impact of water safety programs. We at Pacific Power want to invest in the future of our community by partnering with organizations to make it better for everyone.”
