Plants found in the Trinity Alps region of Northern California will be discussed in a presentation during a meeting next week of the Klamath Basin Chapter of the Native Plant Society of Oregon.

The program is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 6, at the Klamath County Museum, 1451 Main St. in Klamath Falls. The meeting is open to anyone interested.

Ken DeCamp, who spent much of his career working in various positions for the U.S. Forest Service in the region, will be the presenter. Along with the Trinity Alps, DeCamp has explored the Russian and Marble Mountain wilderness areas, as well as limestone formations near Shasta Lake.

“This is amazing country, and I’ve spent the better part of 72 years exploring it.” DeCamp said. “I began shooting botanical photographs about 35 years ago, and that not only includes wildflowers but lichens, fungi and trees as well.”

DeCamp has traveled extensively abroad, and is working on a field guide to wildflowers in the Diemtigtal region of Switzerland.
