Shooting, standoff in LaPine results in arrest

The following is a press release from the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office.

LAPINE, Ore. -  On Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at approximately 5:30 PM, Klamath County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 153000 block of Derri Court near LaPine, on a report of a shooting. A local resident reported that he and his neighbor engaged in an argument and as a result, the neighbor shot at him. 

Deputies arrived on the scene and met with the resident who told them the neighbor had shot at him after an argument. After further investigation deputies attempted to contact the neighbor, who was identified as Jason Funk (54) but refused to come out. 

After a long standoff where numerous deputies including the KCSO Special Response Team were mobilized to the scene.

Funk surrendered at 5:30 AM the following morning outside his residence and was taken into custody.

Funk has been charged with: Attempted assault I, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Menacing
