LAKEVIEW, Ore. – Today the Crane Fire remains 2,993 acres and is now 90 percent contained. The estimated full containment is currently August 31. The fire was transitioned at 6 a.m. from Pacific Northwest Team 12 to the Fremont-Winema National Forest Lakeview Ranger District.

LAKEVIEW, Ore. - Firefighters are wrapping up suppression repairs as they continue making headway in containing the Crane Fire near Lakeview, Oregon. Firefighters continue to mop-up and patrol the fire lines while prepping contingency lines in the southeast.

LAKEVIEW, Ore. - Firefighters continue to make good progress on the Crane Fire about 10 miles southeast of Lakeview, Oregon. Several weak weather disturbances will pass through the region today, with possible showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon.

LAKEVIEW, Ore. - Fire crews make great progress on the Crane Fire overnight increasing containment to 45% and minimal growth from 2,918 acres to 2,987 acres. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office has lifted all evacuation levels in the vicinity of the Crane Fire. The Fremont-Winema National Forest emergency closure is still in effect.

LAKEVIEW, Ore. - Burning in the Lakeview Ranger District of the Fremont-Winema National Forest the Crane Fire has grown to 2,918 acres and the 529 member fire team has secured a 25% containment around the fire. Currently, there are no structures threatened with the fire including the town of Lakeview.

LAKEVIEW, Ore. - The Crane Fire continues to burn approximately 10 miles southeast of Lakeview, Oregon. Today’s weather will be warm and smoky, with high temperatures of 85-88 degrees and winds 12-17 mph gusting to 25 mph in the afternoon. The cause of the fire has been determined to be from lightning.

LAKEVIEW, Ore. - The Crane Fire grew 144 acres overnight to now total 2,474 acres in the Lakeview Ranger District, 10 miles southwest of Lakeview, Oregon. According to inciweb.com, as of August 21, 2020 the Crane Fire is the 5th largest fire in Oregon for the 2020 wildfire season. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

LAKEVIEW, Ore. - The Crane Fire has grown to 2,330 acres 10 miles southeast of Lakeview and is at just 10% containment. 350 Personnel are now actively working the wildfire that started August 16. The fire burns in timber and brush and has activity included moderate flanking with single tree torching.

LAKEVIEW, Ore. - Northwest Incident Management Team 12 took over operations of the Crane Fire Tuesday evening and would like to give special thanks to the fantastic work of the local resources and their efforts to contain the fire. Northwest IMT 12 has arrived e to serve the community and will be working hard to protect resource values in the area. The safety of citizens and firefighters is their number one priority.

LAKEVIEW, Ore. – This morning the Crane Fire remains approximately 1,900 acres with no containment. Yesterday’s storms provided varying amounts of precipitation over the fire with some areas of heavy rain, but most receiving little to no rain. Wind speeds were also less than forecast. Fire behavior was moderated by the weather yesterday, but there was still some spread.
