Hundreds Attend Hearing on Jordan Cove Pipeline

Over 300 people attended a standing room only hearing on the Jordan Cove Energy Project at Klamath Community College Monday night. For two and a half hours, supporters and opponents of the project were able to voice opinions. The hearing was held as an opportunity for the public to specifically voice opinions on the removal-fill permit application. A process required by the State of Oregon for the proposed Jordan Cove Energy Project.

Richardson Revises Grassroots Petitioning Rule Based on Public Comments

Today, Secretary of State Dennis Richardson announced revisions to the grassroots petitioning rule. This rule would prevent wealthy special interest groups from manipulating the initiative process through frivolous lawsuits on ballot titles designed to obstruct and delay signature gathering. Legal challenges often create delays of two to three months or even longer, which is unnecessarily burdensome for grassroots petitioners that do not have the resources to hire a signature gathering service.
