SALEM, Ore. - Today, Representative E. Werner Reschke (R-Klamath Falls) supported Rep. Mike Nearman (R-Independence) in his calling on President Donald Trump close the Mark O. Hatfield Federal Courthouse for the Oregon District located in Portland. Reschke suggests that Klamath County would also make an ideal location for a new courthouse.

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - The United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit has ruled in favor of the United States in the long-running lawsuit titled Baley v. United States, commonly known as the Klamath Project water “Takings Case.” The plaintiff water users sought just compensation for taking of their water rights in 2001 when the United States re-allocated irrigation water to threatened and endangered species under the Endangered Species Act (ESA).

Judge William H. Orrick deny's a motion filed by the Klamath Tribes for preliminary injunction to protect sucker fish of Upper Klamath Lake. Orrick also orders a transfer of venue to a Federal Court in Oregon. At this time, it is unclear which Oregon Federal Court will receive the case.
