An auto tour to Emigrant Pass and other historic sites in northern Klamath County will be offered by the Klamath County Museum Saturday, Aug. 11.

The all-day tour is limited to 10 vehicles. Participants must register for the field trip by calling the Klamath County Museum at (541) 882-1000. Carpooling will be encouraged.

Other stops on the tour will include the Crescent Lake depot site, Crescent Lake town site, and Summit Lake.

High-clearance vehicles are required to travel Emigrant Pass road. The historic route is not passable by most passenger cars.

“Emigrant Pass is one of the earliest roads in Oregon, but relatively few people are aware of its location,” said museum manager Todd Kepple. “Likewise, Summit Lake is one of the prettiest lakes in Klamath County, but it gets very few visitors because it’s a bit of challenge to get there.”
