Tulelake man dies in motorcycle crash on Highway 39

The following is a press release from the Oregon State Police.

MERRILL, Ore. - On May 15, 2022, at approximately 6:23 PM, Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a motorcycle crash on Oregon Highway 39 at Oregon Highway 50. 

Preliminary investigation revealed a gray Kawasaki Concours, operated by Ralph Lagoy (47) of Tulelake, CA, was southbound on Hwy 39 and struck a stop sign controlling traffic on Hwy 50. After striking the sign, the motorcycle traveled off the roadway and into a nearby field. 

Lagoy sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. It was determined the crash had occurred earlier in the day and due to the location was not easily observed. 

The Oregon State Police was assisted by Merrill Fire Department.
