KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – A workshop on promoting heritage tourism in the Klamath Basin and surrounding region will be offered Tuesday, Oct. 30, at the Klamath County Museum, 1451 Main St. in Klamath Falls. The workshop is free and open to anyone connected to the tourism industry. It will run from 9 a.m. to noon.

“An initial workshop was offered last June, and drew quite a bit of interest from a wide variety of people,” said museum manager Todd Kepple. “We’d like to continue the discussion, and hopefully come up with some strategies for promoting the fascinating history of this area.”

The workshop will be facilitated by Jon-Paul Bowles, a destination management consultant in Portland. A primary goal of the workshop will be identifying ways to involve motels, restaurants and other businesses in the effort to attract tourists.

“We have plenty of stories to talk about, but we need to make sure we have the support of everyone who comes in contact with the traveling public,” Kepple said.

Planning for the Oct. 30 workshop has been arranged by the Klamath County Museum, the Favell Museum and Discover Klamath.
