ABOUT CASCADE FIREWATCH

Cascade Firewatch (CF) is a division of Klamath Falls News dedicated to regional wildfire news of Southern Oregon and Northern California. The CF team is dedicated to helping, supporting, and sharing credible, verified fire information from incident commanders, fire managers, and public information officers.

The purpose of CF is to inform and educate about wildfires impacting our region, how fire teams are working hard to protect our forests and grasslands, and to help answer questions you might have through our updates.

Please take a moment and read the information below.

SERVICE LOCATION

CF is here to share news and updates pertaining to the fires in the Southern Oregon and Northern California areas. This area includes south of Bend, north of Redding, and west of the Oregon/Idaho border to the coast. CF on occasion post information outside those boundaries but we do not specifically follow fires outside that area.

WILDFIRE INFORMATION

Wildfires can and do change quickly. A morning update can be completely irrelevant by mid-afternoon. However, with that said, CF will only post or share information from creditable and reliable sources, we ask that you please do the same on your own pages. Please do not share false information as this leads to confusion and panic in the public.

If you are looking for information on a specific fire in your specific area, CF suggests the following ideas and resources:

• Contact your local fire department,

• Contact the public information officer for the fire (if it has a command center)

• Inciweb, www.inciweb.com

• Oregon Emergency Services Fire Dashboard, https://www.oregon.gov/oem/emops/Pages/Current-Operations.aspx

• CALFIRE, https://www.fire.ca.gov/

• For maps of large incidents, fire weather, evacuation, restrictions, and smoke, https://www.klamathfallsnews.org/maps

Please also look at the dates of when things are posted. Information from old posts might be outdated, such as evacuations. Be sure to check for the latest available info for the most accurate info.

POLITICS

On this page, CF will share wildfire news that might include declarations of aid and support from Governors or the President as it pertains to a specific fire, state, fire season, or personnel. However, CF does ask that comments refrain from personal viewpoints regarding politics or how "we got here."

CF IS ABOUT HELPING YOUR FELLOW CITIZEN. Blaming our current conditions on previous acts, your personal views regarding political parties, the Endangered Species Act, or forest miss management does not help your fellow citizen and will be grounds for immediate removal from our social media pages.

CF is not a political page, there are many options out there for you, for that. This is not one of them.

In addition to politics, referencing BLM other than as a reference to the US Bureau of Land Management will not be tolerated and will be grounds for immediate removal and banning from our social media pages. This applies also to any other groups of malice or hate.
