Evacuations Ordered for areas near Tulelake due to the fast moving Caldwell Fire

Newly released fire maps show that the fire has expanded dramatically overnight to 43,749 acres and has reached County Road 120 to the north and the railroad tracks to the east. There has also been unconfirmed accounts of structures now being lost due to the fire.
TULELAKE, Calf. - Today’s thunderstorms caused outflow winds that contributed to rapid fire spread on the Caldwell Fire. The fire threatened the community of Tulelake, prompting evacuations in the area. The fire has spread to approximately one mile south of County Road 120.
Fire management responded with multiple resources including 20 engines, 5 water tenders, 3 hand crews with a total of 60 firefighters, and resource supervisors. Please see the below information from the Modoc County Sheriff’s Office for further evacuation information.
The Modoc County Sheriff’s Office has ordered evacuations of areas bordering Modoc National Forest and the Lava Beds National Monument due to the Caldwell Fire.
MANDATORY EVACUATIONS
The following roads in the Tulelake area south of HWY 139:
County Road 120 to 124
County Road 121 to 124
All residents with property bordering the forest or Lava beds from 120-124.
EVACUATION WARNINGS
Evacuation Warnings are in place for all Copic, Panhandle, and Peninsula areas south of HWY 139.
