Head On Crash near Rocky Point Injures Two, One Critical

A two-vehicle head-on crash occurred Friday, March 1, 2019, just after 6:00 PM along Highway 140 west of Klamath Falls, Ore. near milepost 43.

Minutes before the crash, a driving complaint had been called into 9-1-1 on a Chevrolet Silverado reportedly driving in the oncoming lane. Shortly thereafter, a second call came into 9-1-1 reporting the crash near Varney Creek Road in Rocky Point.

The Oregon State Police determined from witness statements and roadway evidence that the Silverado, driven by Thomas Blodgett (33, Klamath Falls), crossed into the oncoming lane and struck a Toyota Tacoma driven by Sean Prive (36, Medford), head on.

Both drivers were trapped within their vehicles and had to be extricated. Blodgett suffered life threatening injuries and is in critical condition. Prive, suffered serious physical injuries, but is in stable condition.

Blodgett is suspect of driving impaired and has been charged with:

  • Assault II

  • Reckless Driving

  • Reckless Endangering Person (7 counts)

  • DUII - Inhalants

Oregon State Police continue to investigate the crash.
