Over 16 Pounds of Meth Off Klamath Falls Streets

OVER 16 POUNDS OF METHAMPHETAMINE STOPPED FROM HITTING KLAMATH FALLS STREETS
Two large methamphetamine busts were made in Klamath Falls earlier this week preventing almost 17 pounds of methamphetamine from reaching our streets.
On Sunday, April 8, 2018, the Oregon State Police, Klamath Falls Police Department and Klamath County Sheriff’s Office assisted detectives from the Basin Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Team (BINET) with the arrest of two individuals in Klamath Falls, seizing approximately 12.9 pounds of methamphetamine as soon as it reached Klamath Falls. Both suspects were lodged in the Klamath County Jail.

One of the suspects, Carlos Pena Jr (32 years old), was recently released from prison for previous methamphetamine charges. In June of 2016, BINET and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) arrested Carlos Pena Jr in Klamath Falls for possession of over 7 pounds of methamphetamine. Carlos Pena Jr was sentenced to 24 months in prison.

On Tuesday, April 10, 2018, BINET detectives served a search warrant at a residence on Owens Street in Klamath Falls. During the service of the search warrant, Ruben Ramos Cano (57 years old), was arrested and lodged in the Klamath County Jail. Approximately 3.9 pounds of methamphetamine were seized along with almost $8000 in cash, 2 handguns and a large number of suspected stolen laptop computers and hefty amount of suspected stolen jewelry. Klamath Falls Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) assisted with the investigation and service of the search warrant.
The Basin Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Team is comprised of detectives from the Klamath Falls Police Department, Oregon State Police, and Klamath County District Attorney’s Office. BINET operates out of the Klamath Falls Police Department and works closely with the US Drug Enforcement Administration, Homeland Security Investigations, Klamath County Sheriff’s Office, Klamath County Parole and Probation, and DHS Child Welfare.
