TULELAKE, California — Images from the Modoc War of 1872-73 will be discussed in a presentation scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, at the Merrill Historical and Modoc War Museum. The museum is in the Merrill City Hall, 301 E. Second St. in Merrill. The event is free and open to anyone who is interested in attending.

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – A sample of military life in the 19th century will be offered Saturday, Feb. 12, during 1800s Days at the Klamath County Museum. The event will run from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the museum, 1451 Main St. Admission is free and open to anyone interested.

New book on Modoc War Released

New book on Modoc War Released

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – A new book on the Modoc Indian War of 1872-73 will be discussed in a program at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, at the Klamath County Museum.

“Spirit in the Rock – The Fierce Battle for the Modoc Homelands” was written by Klamath Falls native James Compton, who died three years ago in Seattle. Thursday’s program will be presented by his widow, Carol Arnold Compton.

The program, cosponsored by the museum and the Shaw Historical Library, is free and open to anyone interested. Copies of the book will be available for purchase.
