SALEM, Ore. — The Oregon Department of Forestry and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service have signed an agreement that will enhance protections for the Pacific fisher on nearly 184,000 acres of land owned by the Oregon Board of Forestry. This includes the Santiam, Gilchrist and Sun Pass state forests as well as other Board of Forestry land in Lane, Douglas, Coos and Josephine counties.

Outdoor School Offers Summer Camps

Klamath Outdoor Science School (KOSS) is offering a full slate of outdoor camps for children and youth in July, beginning with a new Backpacking 101 camp for 10-14 year olds, July 8-10. This camp is led by KOSS board member and 4th grade teacher, Rebecca Morehouse, an experienced backpacker. She will be assisted by US Forest Service naturalist, Eva Jones.

Registration open for 13th annual History Fitness Hike

Historic sites between Fort Klamath and Kimball State Park will be explored during the 13th annual History Fitness Hike on May 4.

The hike coincides with a celebration of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Kimball State Park. The event is cosponsored by the Klamath County Museum, the YMCA of Klamath Falls, and Oregon State Parks. Registration deadline is April 26.
