On Monday, 30 Mazama High School seniors made big strides toward their future after high school.

“You guys are right on the brink. You’re at the end of your senior year and you can see graduation coming,” said Ashlie Pence, Oregon Tech interim assistant director of admissions, said to the room of Mazama seniors. “You’re so excited.”

Pence led the students through the Oregon Tech Fly-In, where they applied for college, learned about and applied for scholarships, took tours of their specific departments with Oregon Tech students and met staff and faculty to help them start their college careers.

The OIT women are off to a great start in Cascade Conference play as they are in a tie for third place with Southern Oregon University at 3-1 with a total of 9-points. Corban is one point ahead of the Owls in second place with a record of 3-2-1 as they have 10 points. Eastern Oregon is currently locking down first place with a record of 4-0 as they have recorded 12 points; the Mountaineers will play at SOU of Friday and at OIT Saturday.

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – The Oregon Tech women's golf team continued its winning ways as they captured their second straight tournament championship by winning the NCU Invitational at the Springfield Golf Club Tuesday afternoon.
 
Tech Individuals took 3rd, 4th and 5th with Janelle Ferlan once again leading the way for the Owls after her final round 80 to go along with her first round 79 (159) Stephanie Koza was right behind Ferlan as she also fired a final round 80 with a two round total 162. Kylie Collom finished with a two-day total 167 to finish in 6th. Natalie Mullins of College of Idaho was the women's champion with a two round total of 151.

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Oregon Tech (2-4, 1-2 CCC) scored four first half goals, two by Kelly Kyllo, on the way to a 6-0 Cascade Conference win over Walla Walla University (0-5, 0-4 CCC) Friday afternoon at the OIT Soccer Field.

Kyllo put Tech up 1-0 in the 12th minute after he headed in a corner kick off the foot of Lodewijk Bloemzaad. Kyllo then gave the Hooter a 2-0 lead we scored from point blank range just inside the right post off a nice cross from Brennan Gazdik in the 23rd minute.

Benito Torres-Mata scored on a picture perfect double assist that criss crossed the top of the box from Gazdik and Ian Tarnovsky in the 31st minute.

Tech added an own goal after a Walla Walla defender deflected a Tech cross into the back of his own goal giving the Hooter a 4-0 lead in the 43rd minute.

Trinidad Flores kept things rolling for Tech in the second half scoring on quick flick from Kyllo in the 60th minute.

Leonardo Alonzo capped off the Tech scoring on a pass from Bloemzaad in the 61st minute.

The Hustlin' Owls dominated play with a huge 23-4 advantage in shots and 12-2 edge in shots on goal.

Oregon Tech Goal Keeper Mitchell Jillson went the distance between the Pipes to pick-up the shut-out win.

Tech will host Multnomah Saturday at 4:00 pm at the OIT Soccer Field. Multnomah was a tough luck loser at Southern Oregon Friday 1-0.

Oregon Tech Men's Golf Named CCC "Team of the Week"

LA GRANDE, Ore. –The Oregon Tech men's golf team has been named the "Team of the Week" for September 11-17, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.

The Owls hosted the first CCC tournament of the 2017-18 season at the Running Y course in Klamath Falls, Ore., in record setting fashion.

As a team Oregon Tech combined for a three round total of 844 strokes and outdistanced runner-up Corban University by twenty strokes. The number supplants the old CCC record of 847 which has stood for a decade and was shot by former member Concordia in 2017. OIT's Tyler Franke won medalist honors with his three round total 205 (68, 68, 69) just out pacing team mate Houston Knox who fired a final round 67 for a three round total of 209, 7 under par.

Franke's 205 total is now tied for second all-time in the Cascade Conference. No other golfer has hit the 205 or below mark since 2008. Knox's 209 places him tied for fifth best all-time.

Oregon Tech (6-0 CCC) returns to the links September 25-26 as they travel to Eugene, Ore. for the final fall CCC tournament hosted by Northwest Christian University.
