On Sunday (03/18/18) afternoon at 1:30pm, Klamath County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Tom Hoy observed a 2018 Toyota pickup which matched the description of a vehicle recently stolen from Lithia in Klamath Falls. As he attempted to overtake the Toyota pickup the driver accelerated and began to drive in a reckless manner.

Deputy Hoy pursued the vehicle onto the Southside By-Pass and then south onto Hwy 39 reaching speeds nearing 100mph.

An unsuccessful attempt to spike the vehicle was made early in the pursuit and a second attempt was being coordinated with the Merrill Police Department when the driver of the stolen pickup attempted to pass another vehicle on the right and rolled the Toyota multiple times in the shoulder area of Hwy 39.
