Updates on RX burns in Fremont-Winema NF

Today, firefighters worked several prescribed fires in the Fremont-Winema National Forest. Including the West Drews prescribed fire in Lake County, and the Racoon prescribed fire in Klamath County. Ignitions on both prescribed fires took place late this morning. 

Firefighters are closely monitoring the weather and current conditions to ensure the prescribed fires are done safely and within project areas.

West Drews RX Fire

The West Drews prescribed fire is located in terrain that is still snow covered, 6-miles west of Drews Reservoir, Oregon. The RX fire has planned 400 acres for this project. The RX burn is expected to produce smoke for 3-7 days.

Racoon RX Fire

The Racoon prescribed fire is located alongside Oregon Highway 140, 23-miles west of Klamath Falls near Odessa. The RX burn is approximately 114 acres and should produce visible smoke for 3-7 days.
