ALTURAS, Calif. - On Sunday, July 2, at approximately 1519 hours, a hiker reported finding a deceased male adult on the Eagle Peak Summit Trail, located in the Modoc National Forest Wilderness. The deceased hiker was reported to be approximately 1,000 feet below the summit on the southeast side of the mountain.

ALTURAS, Calif. - The Modoc National Forest will impose fire restrictions beginning at 12 a.m. on July 25th and continuing until November 30th. It is imperative that these precautions be taken in light of the increase in wildfires throughout the western United States. In accordance with this order, campfires will no longer be permitted in forest areas except in Designated Recreation Sites.

LAKEVIEW, Ore. – Containment on the Patton Meadow Fire is now at 70%. Crews are gridding the fire’s perimeter and increasing the rind by digging out and applying water to hot spots. The majority of containment efforts are along the north perimeter of the fire along Cottonwood Road.

Fox Complex firefighters making headway

LAKEVIEW, Ore. – Crews worked overnight to increase and secure containment lines on the Patton Meadow Fire, while rising humidity complicated operations to burn out fuels in the area around Patton Meadow. The rind along the edge of containment lines in several areas was increased from 50 feet up to 150 feet, while crews checked for hotspots to prevent flare ups in the interior of the fire.
