Fire crews secure line around the perimeter
/Crews continue to work on the northern edge and on hot spots inside the fire’s boundaries.

CHILOQUIN, OR – Fire growth of the Two Four Two Fire has been minimal thanks to calm winds and suppression efforts from firefighters. Overnight the fire grew 134 acres. Today, firefighters plan to work in the fire’s interior.
Crews will be working on the north side of the fire, strengthening the control and contingency lines. Additional crews will work inwards cooling hot spots an cleaning up around structures.
Firefighters may find new challenges today with an area Wind Advisory and Red Flag Warning starting at 11:00 AM. Winds are expected to be coming from the southwest and blowing to the northeast. The wind will be testing the control lines.
Helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft remain available for the Two Four Two Fire, but due to the thick smoke yesterday, aircraft were unable to fly.
The Oregon National Guard is available and is setting up camp at the Chiloquin Rodeo Grounds.
EVACUATION INFORMATION
The Red Cross has established an evacuation center at the KlaMoYa Casino parking lot south of Chiloquin. Evacuees are asked not to call 911 unless it is an emergency but instead asked to check into the Red Cross Evacuation Center.
The Klamath County Fairgrounds is also available for evacuees with trailers or animals. RV hook-ups and additional animal holding facilities are available.
Also at the Klamath County Fairgrounds, the Klamath Freedom Celebration is organizing a Fire Donation Center to help victims of the west coast wildfires. See the video below or here.

Predicted wind events for the next 48 hours high temps, low relative humidity, Red Flag Warnings, and drought conditions are a high concern.

In the next 24 hours, the potential is extremely high for spread, continued evacuations, and loss of structures, expect the fire to continue to grow to the NW and SW. Type 2 Team will be in place, actively fighting fire should have a good footprint
In the next 48 hours, the potential is extremely high for spread, continued evacuations, and loss of structures, expect the fire to continue to grow to the NW and SW. A shift in weather pattern expected should help with slowing the rate of spread.
In the next 72 hours, the potential should be mod-high for spread, continued evacuations, and loss of structures, expect the fire to continue to grow to the NW and SW.
Anticipated after 72 hours: Actively engaged in decreasing fire behavior predicted
SAFETY
Safety remains a top priority for the Fire Management Team. This includes trying to prevent COVID-19 infections. Personnel are following the Center for Disease Control guidelines. This means limiting personal contact within the fire camp and the community. The fire camp is closed to the public and media.
