Cooler weather will help firefighters’ containment efforts on the Two Four Two Fire
/CHILOQUIN, Ore. – Overnight, fire crews on the Two Four Two Fire between Chiloquin and Fort Klamath, Oregon patrolled US Highway 97 and Oregon Highway 62 to look for visible hot spots and extinguish any that were found.
The fire remains at 14,473 acres and has increased to 37% containment.
Heavy traffic has been reported on both US97 and ORE62 in the locations where crews are working. For both firefighter and public safety, if you are traveling through the fire area please slow down and use caution.
The two fires reported yesterday located outside the main fire, the Dam Fire and the Cattle fire, are fully contained and in patrol status. Those fires will continue to be monitored periodically through the next couple weeks.
With the cooler weather expected today, it will help firefighters in their containment efforts. The northwest section of the fire continues to be the most difficult area. With slightly higher relative humidity today and a slight chance of rain, crews will be able to use that to their advantage.
Moving into next week warm and dry conditions will be back to normal.
