KLAMATH BASIN - Hundreds of high school seniors throughout the Basin were honored this weekend as eleven high schools held commencement ceremonies to celebrate.

Each year as fall arrives with crisp air and changing leaves the 173rd Fighter Wing hosts a family day for Airmen and their loved ones, bringing the larger Kingsley Field family together for camaraderie and fun, Oct. 20, 2019.
Outside the command building on the lawn are booths for face painting, a pumpkin patch for kids, a petting zoo with a Shetland pony and goats, popcorn and candy, an archery range for kids, and hot drinks for everyone.
When the tire smoke cleared, this year’s event at the Klamath County Fairgrounds marked biggest attendance, most cars, and best fundraising yet. The Klamath County Event Center, Stillwell Arena, and Butler Barn were all jammed full of show cars. Spectators came to see their favorite cars, watch drag races, and eat great food. Together the community raised over $183,000.
Day number two of the Klamath County Fair has come and gone with a tremendous turnout, exciting experiences, and fantastic family fun. Families and individuals alike cruised through the fairgrounds soaking up the joy and adventure the fair has to offer.
The first day of the Klamath County Fair did not disappoint. The entertainment was strong, food was excellent, vendors were friendly and outgoing. But most importantly, 4-H and FFA Members began showing their animals - poultry, dairy, meat & pygmy goats, sheep, dairy cattle, and beef.
Due to the Goose 2 Fire in Modoc County California, the US Forest Service Klamath Falls Airtanker Base was in brought to life with its first real world action this fire season.
Klamath Community College’s 2019 commencement ceremony was held Friday, June 14, 2019, and celebrated nearly 150 KCC students earning a college degree or certificate.

Thirteen years in the making, today, 126 Seniors crossed the stage at Modoc Field to receive a high school diploma from Klamath Union today. These students are the first to complete their senior year inside the walls of the “New KU.”

For the last two weekends, the Klamath County Event Center has been taken over by dogs both in show and in sport. Last weekend, the Klamath Dog Fanciers held their prestigious annual dog show, this weekend the group hosted the exciting agility trials.
Over 1000 students from Mazama, Hosanna and Lost River High Schools watched as Operation Prom Night told a graphic story of a DUII crash. They saw events unfold right in front of them on Viking Field today.

In the old times the Klamath Tribe believed everything they needed to live was provided for them by their Creator - They still believe this today.
One of those things provided by Creator is the C’WAAM. Each spring the Klamath Tribe holds a ceremony to celebrate the fish and to give thanks to the Creator for providing the fish.
Today five student firefighters with Klamath County Fire District 1 received hands on training in their final exam before graduation and joining the ranks of firefighter. For several it was not their first experience battling fire but it was the first experience with KCFD1.
“Today we have a training fire, we call it a burn to learn,” says Dave Sonneman, Firefighter and Instructor for KCFD1. “We get them in there with real live fire and we see how they react.”
Over the weekend it is forecasted that Crater Lake National Park can receive up to 18 inches of new snow during the upcoming storm. The extended forecast from the National Weather Service Office in Medford, Ore. also shows that today may be the last day for sunshine for some time. Final preparations are underway for the 67th Annual Tulelake Butte Valley Fair. Vendors are setting up, the carnival is under construction, animals are arriving, and judging inside the Home Economics building is underway.
After a long smoke filled day, the first day of the Klamath County Fair is in the books. The day featured an up and coming country superstar, wild cats, a hairless guinea pig (check our Instagram for that one), a golf cart driving puppet, the tin man, hogs and so much more.
From Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning Klamath Falls officially received 7.5” of heavy wet snow. Unofficially many locations in town received higher snow totals. Levels were great enough that all schools, with the exception of Butte Valley and Tulelake, and many small businesses called in a ‘Snow Day’.
